Shooter in NYC delivery man’s death spent months threatening restaurant workers, officials say

NEW YORK (WPIX) — A New York Town person arrested on Wednesday allegedly gunned down a supply worker simply because of a monthslong vendetta about a Chinese foods order, officials claimed. 

Glenn Hirsch, 51, of Queens, allegedly expended months stalking and harassing employees from Wonderful Wall Restaurant just before fatally capturing Zhiwen Yan, 45, Queens District Lawyer Melinda Katz explained. Yan was shot just times immediately after dropping off an order on April 30. 

“As alleged, a petty dispute more than a choose-out buy turned an obsessive stage of competition for the defendant who commenced to stalk and harass personnel at the cafe for months,” Katz claimed. “The tragic stop result was the murder of a tough-operating employee, who still left behind a devastated family and a grieving local community.”

Hirsch’s rage was kicked off on Nov. 30, 2021. He ordered foodstuff and asked for excess duck sauce packets, which personnel at Fantastic Wall Chinese Cafe on Queens Boulevard gave him, but “the defendant became irate, even so, and argued with staff at the eatery,” officials reported. 

The Queens gentleman demanded a refund and wished to return the foodstuff, according to the indictment. When employees refused, Hirsch termed the law enforcement. Officers arrived and personnel spelled out to them that they could not acknowledge meals again since of COVID.  

Hirsch stormed out, but he allegedly came back again frequently and threatened staff. On Dec. 16, 2021, Hirsch allegedly used a knife to problems a cafe worker’s car or truck. 

“I have a gun,” he allegedly informed staff. “Be watchful, this is the previous time I’m heading to convey to you.”

Staff adopted him, confronted him and pulled down Hirsch’s mask, in accordance to the indictment. One took pictures of Hirsch’s encounter and of the license plate on his parked SUV.

On Jan. 28, 2022, a employee was outdoors shoveling snow when Hirsch showed up, officers reported. Hirsch allegedly pointed a gun at the guy. 

“How’s your motor vehicle? Try to remember me? I will get rid of your total household,” he allegedly explained.

The employee rushed inside and named the law enforcement. By the time the worker went again exterior, Hirsch was absent and the tires on the employee’s motor vehicle experienced been slashed.

On April 30, Hirsch dropped his wife off at do the job, authorities explained. He was then caught on camera passing by the Queens Boulevard cafe seven periods.

Just right before 9:30 p.m., Yan remaining the cafe on a scooter, officers stated. Hirsch allegedly adopted as Yan produced his shipping. Yan drove off and then, though stopped at a red light-weight around 67th Push and 108th Road, he noticed Hirsch. 

The employee backed absent, but Hirsch allegedly fired a one shot to Yan’s chest, killing the shipping employee. Hirsch fled, heading to his wife’s condominium.

Hirsch was indicted by a Queens County grand jury Thursday on murder, stalking and other costs. He faces amongst 29 2/3 to 44 yrs-to-daily life in jail, if convicted.
