Pork Recall Expands to More Than 2 Million Pounds of Products, Including Items Sold at Whole Foods
Last week’s recall of cooked pork products has now expanded to include more than two million pounds of food, and 10 additional items. Whole Foods issued its own recall on its website for Wellshire Farms Fully Cooked Hams, because Wellshire Farms works with Alexander & Hornung as a co-packer.
“The health and safety of consumers is our top concern,” Chris McCarthy, vice president of sales at Wellshire Farms, said in a statement. “Wellshire is deeply committed to food safety and will continue to investigate this matter and invest in our processes to ensure the quality and wholesomeness of our products. We will do our best to make certain this never happens again.”
Thus far, there have been no reports of illness related to any Alexander & Hornung pork products, however consumers should now re-check their refrigerators and freezers to make sure they don’t have any of these items in their possession. If they do, the products should be thrown away immediately.
