The new branch of Italian favourite Salvi’s is now fully operational, following its soft launch earlier this month. The spot, beneath the towers on Deansgate Square is aiming to become an ‘Italian food hub’, combining a restaurant, a deli, a ‘Sorrento-style’ bar and an art gallery space.
It also features a large heated and covered terrace, which can be covered in the winter and uncovered in the summer, meaning the spot has all-year round outdoor seating. There’s also a private dining room, The Amalfi Room, which can be hired out, and will also be used for pasta-making classes with Salvi’s owner Maurizio Cecco.
In the deli, there will be a wide range of Italian ‘DOP’ products, the protected origin items of Italian cuisine, from parmesan cheese and mozzarella to prosecco. In the kitchen, there’s a brand new bespoke pizza oven too, with the new vegan pizza the ‘Vegano’ among the menu items, alongside the Naples speciality the Pizza Fritto with San Marzano tomatoes, DOP mozzarella, ricotta and parmesan.
On the main menu will be the Pasta Nonna Teresa, with pistachio pesto and pancetta, the Pasta Polipo, with octopus and spicy ‘nduja sausage, along with brand new Pasta Pesto Melanzane, featuring sizzling aubergine and pesto. At the bar, there will be some new aperitif options, including the Limoncello Spritz alongside the classic Aperol Spritz.
Cecco said: “We worked so hard to bring Salvi’s Deansgate to life and we’re absolutely ecstatic to finally be able to share the simply stunning venue that we have created! Like many other businesses, we faced a lot of challenges during the pandemic, but we are proud to say we are still standing strong and growing.
“We took the best features of each of our venues and crafted the new Salvi’s brand for everyone as passionate about real Italian food as us. Manchester has been our home for years, and we’re dedicated to ‘serve’ back the love we receive!”
The first Salvi’s opened in Manchester 10 years ago in the Northern Quarter, followed by the deli and restaurant in the Corn Exchange.
