“Delicious Miss Brown” star Kardea Brown has signed a new two-year exclusive deal with Food Network, TheWrap has learned exclusively.
As part of the extended pact, the cable channel has renewed Brown’s Southern cooking show for a sixth season, which is beginning production this fall and will debut in 2022.
Shot on location in Charleston, S.C., and currently airing its fifth season, Brown’s “Delicious Miss Brown” “shares the family events, culture and recipes close to Kardea’s heart,” per Food Network. “Born and raised on the Sea Islands of Charleston, Kardea grew up in a big family with a love for food, especially the cherished recipes they passed down from generation to generation.”
“Delicious Miss Brown” Season 5, which debuted Aug. 29, has been viewed by more than 3.5 million viewers to date, according to Food Network. During the show’s Sunday at 12 p.m. ET/PT time slot, Food Network currently ranks as the No. 1 cable network among women in the 25-54 age demographic.
In addition to continuing to star on her own cooking series, Brown’s on-screen relationship with Food Network now includes her role as a judge on new series “Holiday Baking Championship: Gingerbread Showdown,” which is set to premiere Monday, Nov. 15 at 9/8c.
The show, which is a five-episode spinoff of Food Network’s popular “Holiday Baking Championship,” will see three teams of talented gingerbread artists face off in front of host Jesse Palmer and judges Brown, Nacho Aguirre and Breegan Jane.
“Kardea quickly became a rising star when she joined Food Network in 2019,” Courtney White, president of Food Network and streaming food content at Discovery Inc, told TheWrap. “Her food and storytelling really resonate with our audience and we look forward to delivering more of her unique culinary voice in the future.”
Brown added: “I’m so excited to continue this journey with Discovery Inc. It’s been a dream come true to share my food, family and traditions with viewers.”
